August 5/11 - We'd like to thank Howard Mandshein and Frank Andrews at 92.1 CITI FM for recently spinning "I Like It" from 440 on the station's new show "The 23rd Hour" - kudos to Frank and Howard and CITI for championing local artists! We're also blown away that 440 sold out at CDBaby in 5 days!!! So, hello Massachusetts, hello California, hello Denmark, hello Germany, hello to everyone who picked up a copy and helped it sell out so fast. We're blushing...the album is also available for download (ewww) at CD Baby but hang in there, more stock should be available within the next few days. The album will also be available at iTunes, Amazon, and all the usual suspects shortly.
July 30/11 - "I Like It" from 440 has been charting on 92.9 KICK FM in Winnipeg for the last 6 weeks and is currently sitting at #9. Big thanks to the station for spinning it and to those who have been requesting it! Requests can be made to 204-780-5425 or by emailing heyeverybody@kick.fm. Back on the road in September - 8th at Buds on Broadway in S'toon, 9th at Wakaw Inn, Wakaw SK and a return engagement at the coolest place around in Regina - Gaslight Saloon, September 10th. Our latest album, 440 is finally available worldwide (see the "Store" page) at CDBABY - http://cdbaby.com/cd/equalloudnesscurve. Recording of the third ELC album begins September 17th at Private Ear Recording in Winnipeg.
May 6/11 - ELC live June 2nd - Bud's on Broadway, Saskatoon, SK, June 3rd - Gaslight Saloon, Regina, SK, June 4th - Wakaw Inn, Wakaw, SK. Had a great time as usual at Bud's in April and ended up in Wakaw as a result - Wakaw, home of the exploding PA bins, complete with fire...we'll be bringing extinguishers with us this time...Check out the "VIDEO" page to see footage of the "440" album release show from February 25th at The Royal George in Winnipeg. Some soundman blues during the first track but he dials it in pretty good around the 2 minute mark. Thanks to Donny Haldane for capturing the night in HD on three cameras and for all of his hard work editing the footage! We've been going fast and furious on new material for the next ELC album, recording is scheduled to start in early September...On a more serious note our go to keyboard player when Dr. Lloyd isn't available, BJ Garrison, (seen in the footage on the VIDEO page) has been fighting a long and brave battle with stomach cancer and has recently gotten some more bad news. Our thoughts are with him and we encourage everyone to give generously to cancer research organizations everywhere. Add us on MySpace and Facebook! See you down the road...
March 1/11 - Wow, what a great night on Feb 25th - the official album release show for "440" was successful way beyond our expectations! Thanks to all who attended for your support and thanks to Greg and staff at the Royal George - first class all the way! That's it for Winnipeg for this year at least, on the road again...
February 18/11 - Official album release show for "440" is Friday, February 25th at The Royal George in Winnipeg with guests Mule. Tickets are only $5/ea, that's a whole lotta Big Rock Show for 5 bucks! This will be our one and only show in Winnipeg this year so if you wanna see it, ya gotta be there. Off to the Gaslight Saloon in Regina on April 2 and back to Bud's On Broadway in Saskatoon on April 7th. More dates TBA.
November 7/10 - Well, we've been busy...We'd like to thank the press in the U.K. for their kind words about 440, "So Glad To See You", "I Like It" & "I Know What I Said" have been getting airplay over the pond as well with the latter reaching #5 a few weeks ago on Maximum FM in England. We appreciate the support!
We're getting set to hit the road this week for our "Part of the World Tour" - Nov 10, Bubba's Place, Regina, SK - Nov 11, Bud's On Broadway, Saskatoon, SK - Nov 12, The Avonmore, Carnduff, SK - Nov 13, Double Decker Tavern, Brandon, MB - Nov 26, The Uptown, Moosomin, SK - Nov 27, The Arborg Hotel, Arborg, MB.
Our good friend Steve Pennicook has moved on to other projects and we wish him all the best. Taking over the drum chores is rythym king Dan Lavack. The band has never sounded better and we can't wait to get back on stage with the hottest version of ELC yet! See ya out there...
August 31/10 - Still recovering from Chugfest 2! Another great year for this festival, looking forward to next year. ELC has just been added to what looks to be THE party of the year - Spiritual Guidance Party, Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Pyramid in Winnipeg. Lineup is ELC, Hwy 59 (Gary Golden), The Choir Boys (Harlequin minus Belanger), reunion of original lineup of The Chocolate Bunnies From Hell and special guests. Tix are $20ea and going fast, get 'em while you can by emailing us...
August 2/10 - Just when you thought is was safe to go to the country...GHUGFEST 2! ELC has been invited back to play this great little festival in Southern Manitoba near the U.S. border. Last year's show was good times and this year promises to be a blast as well. Other bands confirmed are Chugfest alumni Hellride and Return To Roy (formerly Locomotive) as well as new acts Radio Electric and the Newmans (whose roster includes the the fruit of Lloyd's loins, Lucas Peterson) and others. $20 gets you in and also gives you a campsite should you so choose to stay overnight...or at least until you sober up enough to drive...Straight south down Hwy 59 from the perimeter of Winnipeg, right at Hwy 201 and then follow the CHUGFEST signs. Gates open at noon, entertainment starts at 3pm. There are facilities for the ladies and food vendors on site. Good times in the bush. Thanks to Don Bouchat for sitting in on keyboards for Lloyd, who is too tired to play the gig. Also making his debut with ELC is our new bassist Sandy Matusik who is taking over the reigns from Jake Jacobs for the sole reason that Jake is so damn good and in demand that we can never book any shows! We wish Jake all the best in the future and thank him immensely for his contribution to the new album. Jake is an honorary member of ELC for life! CHUGFEST 2!!! See you there!
The official release date for the new ELC album "440" is October of this year but you will be able to get advance copies at CHUGFEST. Thanks to Broose from "Beer For Breakfast" on KICK FM for regularly spinning tracks from the new album. We are planning a raid on Western Canada once the album is officially released in the fall, see you down the road...
December 2/09 - ELC lives and breathes. The new album is actually recorded and we've also welcomed a new member, Wendy Cameron, to the lineup. Wendy's great voice is a welcome addition the the ELC family and is all over the new album. Tour to come in 2010. Having a rocking Christmas and holiday season!
September 21/09 - Despite pouting, begging, pleading and threats of violence if he did, Dan has officially retired from the band. We've enlisted the talents of monster journeyman bassist Jake Jacobs (Streetheart, Powder Blues Band, Anne Murray, Ben E. King, Rita Macneil to name a few) to fill Dan's shoes. When we heard that Jake had played with Anne Murray we knew we had to have him in the band! Jake was born in New England, US but spent his formative years in Eastern Canada before settling here in Winnipeg with his wonderful family in 2004 after a stint in Vancouver. "Ive known Dan since we were 8 or 9 years old and we formed our first band together when we were 15 (Damaged Beyond Repair), its hard to lose him but if it can't be him I'm sure as hell glad its Jake!" - Trevor
We're putting the finishing touches on the new album and will be announcing some U.K. and European tour dates once the album is released. See you down the road...
August 4/09 - CHUGFEST. Whew!!! What a great event! It was a pleasure to be on the bill with Locomotive, Meatdraw, Hellride, Sonic Eclipse & Pushing Daisies, who all turned in great performances. The ELC set wasn't so bad either, complete with, uh, "Solid Gold" dancers climbing on the stage and shaking it with the band, twin Gibsons & Mesas crushing the warm summer night air when Dr. Lloyd strapped on an axe and flailed about the stage for a couple of songs until he was made to get back behind the keys out of fear for his safety - and the safety of others - particularly the rest of the band, BOMBASTIC drumming by Pennicook, MONSTER bass from Jake Jacobs (we love you...and thanks) and Millar paying homage to Pete Townsend when he smashed a poor, helpless Les Paul into a million splinters at the end of the set in a violent, adrenalin induced stupor (uh, ya, adrenalin, that's it). There's a decent bootleg of the show out there, we know this because KICK FM played "California" & "I Like It" (the latter being on the new album) on Beer For Breakfast less than a week after the show...We'll get some of those tracks up soon. Cheers to the Locomotive boys for putting this thing on. Attend this event next year, you won't be disappointed!
Speaking of new albums...ahem...6 of the 12 songs from the new album were debuted at CHUGFEST. The crowd response to the new material leads us to believe we're on the right track...Back in the studio August 5th at which time it will be pedal down for the next couple of months to complete the album. It will be worth the wait...
Hello to our new MySpace and Facebook friends. Welcome aboard. Cheers to Black Velvet magazine & Fireworks magazine (both U.K. publications) for their recent kind words about "Let it Roll" and Activ Radio in France for spinning tracks from the album in regular rotation. To our friends in the U.K & Europe - don't be surprised if we turn up over there early next year doing dates at a club near you . Please do come say hi, we don't bite...
See ya down the road. Long live rock...
July 21/09 - Congrats to Mark, who won a pair of tickets to CHUGFEST last Saturday on KICK FM on the "Beer for Breakfast" show with Broose Tulloch, where we also debuted "Try To Forget You" from the new album. We had a long hard day in the studio yesterday and are now that much closer to having the album done that we've been threatening to finish for the last year or so.
If you like the rock and roll don't forget to add us on Facebook and Myspace. CHUGFEST is going to be a wicked party, get off your ass and come enjoy mother nature and some of Manitoba's best rock bands. 20 bucks for 6 bands and a campsite! ELC takes the stage at 9:30pm sharp followed by Locomotive and The Pushing Daisies. Good times...see ya down the road...
June 26/09 - ELC back onstage! Tickets are now available for "CHUGFEST", all day open air festival in Ridgeville, MB, July 25, 2009 featuring Pushing Daisies, Locomotive (hosts), ELC, Meatdraw (great name!) and Sonic Eclipse. Bring your own, uh, "refreshments", no glass please. Ridgeville is approximately 45 minutes south of Winnipeg and a stones throw from the U.S. border. Gates open at 3pm. ELC onstage at 10pm. Tickets are $20/each and include a camping spot for those who are too "tired" to hit the road after the show. This promises to be a rockin' party with some great Manitoba talent! We will be debuting a whack of songs from the new album. Hope to see you there!
May 2/09 - We recommend picking up a copy of the May/09 issue of PowerPlay Magazine http://www.powerplaymagazine.co.uk/index2.htm which features a 2 page interview with Trevor Knox Millar (page 22/23) and a rather flattering review of Let it Roll. PowerPlay is a U.K. magazine that is available pretty much anywhere, including right here at home at Dominion News. Thanks to Allan "I Wonder How Many Tattoos Will Fit On My Body" Bannerman and PowerPlay for their kind support. Also, Kudos to Steve Price & ARfm for spinning "Trouble" recently and DirtyRockMagazine.com (Australia) and Heavy Hardes (Germany) for their kind words about Let it Roll.
New Equal Loudness Curve album coming soon...
March 18/09 - Check out http://www.rockreport.be/review.asp?id=2345 This guy has great taste in music. :)
March 3/09 - Check out the current issue of Fireworks magazine for a review of "Let it Roll"... http://www.rathole.com/fireworks/ And one of the freebie CDs that comes with contains "You & The Devil". We're blushing... Cheers to the fine folks at Rathole. Would you believe, we are actually on schedule to release the follow up to Let It Roll this spring!? Well, we are. Strap yourselves in, its gonna be a face melter.
December 23/08 - Well, we're about halfway through recording the follow up to Let it Roll, look for an early spring release. Whatever it is that floats your boat, have a safe and happy holiday season and all the best in 2009!
November 4/08 - Hello friends. Just a quick note to let you know the wheels are still turning...We are currently in negotiations to re-release Let it Roll in the U.K. in 2009. Special thanks from the band to all of the rock and roll faithful over there who have been downloading the album from iTunes Europe and/or having the physical CD shipped to them from our distributor in the States. Being an independent band that refuses to kiss ass and with ZERO help from outside sources, including federal governement funding or support by local groups claiming to have a mandate of helping local artists, sales of Let it Roll have far exceeded our expectations as we are only a couple of dozen copies away of being sold out of the first run of the album. Thank you so much!
Further to that, we know we have been threatening to release the follow up album in North America for the last year or so but quite honestly, money, or lack of it, has been the deterring factor! We are extremely excited to announce that we now have all of our ducks in a row and recording is scheduled to begin on November 28th. We will be recording at Private Ear Recording's new digs in Winnipeg, Canada. Excuse us while we pick our tongues up off the floor...
That's all for now folks, see you down the road...
September 15/08 - Popular music lost a mighty force today. We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Richard William (Rick) Wright - July 28, 1943 - September 15, 2008. Shine on...
July 2/08 - Quick update - For those of you who have been following the band and/or saw us recently at the Pyramid Cabaret, you may have noticed some fresh meat behind the kit! As you may know, Ryan has been battling some issues with a surgically repaired arm for the last year or so. In light of that injury, Ryan has decided to hang up the sticks and dedicate himself to his new wife and children, a noble task indeed! We wish him and his family the best! So, the "new guy" is Steve Pennicook, some mad Australian who claims he came to Canada of his own volition, but we suspect he is waiting for some statutes to run out...either way, he's a MONSTER and a welcome addition to the family.
The new album - the songs are being demo'd (sp?) as this is written and we are negotiating with a certain Canadian rock icon regarding producing it with us. That's it for now, back to the cage to work on the album...
Have a safe summer and if you can't stay out of trouble, don't get caught...
June 3/08 - Tune in to 92.9 KICK FM (http://kickfmlive.blogspot.com/ for their stream) on Wednesday, June 4th. Trevor Knox Millar will be on the coolest morning show in town with the lovely and talented Chelsea & Kate sometime between 7 and 8am. Yes, a.m. There is a pool going on as to how late Trevor will be or if in fact he will even make it to the station. Listen in to win copies of Let it Roll and tickets for the Big Rock Show on Thursday at the Pyramid Cabaret (pyramid7.com). See you all on Thursday!
May 7/08 - Its official, Big Rock Show on June 5th at the Pyramid. The home page has all the info. Be there!!! Really, its ok to like real rock and roll music. Trevor Knox Millar will be on "Beer for Breakfast" with Broose on 92.9 KICK FM (http://kickfm.blogspot.com/) on Saturday, May 10th around 11:30am (if he can wake up on time) giving away tickets and some schwag 'n' stuff. Light one up, crack one open, or whatever floats your boat and tune in to 92.9 KICK FM, or listen to their stream on the web (who knew it has uses other than surfing for porn!) at (http://kickfmlive.blogspot.com/). See you at the show...
April 23/08 - Here's whats been happening! First off, hello to Budapest, Hungary, where another of the rock and roll faithful has recently ordered and been shipped a copy of our album "Let it Roll", so sayeth our distributor in the States. Welcome aboard, we hope you enjoy the ride.
Also, "Too Damn Lazy" from "Let it Roll" continues to chart on 92.9 KICK FM (http://www.kick.fm/ ), sitting at #7 last week on the KICK 40. We think that's kinda cool...
NOW FOR THE BEST PART - we have finally confirmed a date for the Big Rock Show! Its been awhile and we're aching to get back on stage. The date is set, we'll be formally announcing the show within the next week after we dot some i's and cross a couple t's. To say we are excited would be an understatement!
And yes, the follow up to "Let it Roll" is in the works, hang in there...
March 19/08 - Greetings and salutations you crazy rock and rollers. For those of you who aren't already aware, in the midst of the commercial radio quagmire at home here in Winnipeg, there is a great little radio station (we affectionately refer to it as the little radio station that could - and does) called 92.9 KICK (CKIC) FM that valiantly plays music that is a refreshing break from the force-fed, out of province programmed commercial radio we are subjected to here. Lots of great talk too. Anyway, "Too Damn Lazy" from "Let it Roll" has been charting on the station for the past few weeks. If you aren't already listening to this station you should be, there is something for everyone. http://www.kickfm.blogspot.com/ will get you to their stream if you aren't local. While you are there, feel free to email them and/or call and request "Too Damn Lazy". We think their request line is (204) 780-5425 but we're not certain, hell, give it a shot! Do it once, do it often (preferrably often:). Either way, support this station, they are doing great things for local music.
That's it for now folks, we're gonna try to start recording the next album soon before it becomes a six disc box set and its very likely we will be announcing a couple of local shows soon, hope to see everyone there.
February 9/08 - Hello friends. Just a quick update to let you know we are still alive and, for the most part, well! We have met some strange and interesting people over the past couple months. Its getting weirder and we like that...In spite of the fact that we have been unable to do any significant touring due mostly to personnel injuries, "Let it Roll" has been selling all over the world, with albums recently shipped as far as Great Britain and Germany, proving once again that Rock and Roll is a universal and beautiful language. We welcome our new friends to the family.
For reasons we won't go into here, the recording of the follow up to "Let it Roll" (working title - Songs For The Underdog) has been pushed back - again. In the meantime Trevor and Lloyd have been collaborating on a few new songs that will end up on the new album. Also,Trevor has begun recording some acoustic tracks with Uncle Ken (he's everyone's uncle). Its not likely that these tracks will end up on the album but perhaps they will be made available somewhere, sometime, somehow.
Anyway, keep the faith brothers and sisters, its gonna be worth the wait. See you down the road.
December 16/07 - The band is set to begin recording the follow-up to "Let it Roll" at the end of January. In the meantime, Trevor Knox Millar has been doing some acoustic shows accompanied by "Uncle" Ken S. pounding out demonic African rythyms on an array of percussive instruments. The sets have included songs by Bob Dylan, The Who, Peter Tosh and others as well as reworked acoustic versions of some songs from Let it Roll and some new songs that will end up in electrified form on the new album. The band wishes for everyone to have a safe and happy holiday season and are looking forward to blowing your ears off in 2008.
August 30/07 - BIG ROCK SHOW ANNOUNCED - Well, Schmidt's arm hasn't fallen off yet (isn't duct tape wonderful) & as a result, the band will be giving their first live performance since November at the "World Famous" Palomino Club (http://palominoclub.ca) at 1133 Portage Ave, Winnipeg, MB (204-772-0454) on Wednesday, September 26, 2007. This is a special one night only performance. For those familiar with the club please note this will be a ROCK AND ROLL ONLY EVENING.There will be no supporting act. Doors at 8pm, ELC takes the stage at 9:30pm sharp. The band will be doing 2 sets that will also feature the debut of about a half dozen new songs that will be released on the next album. The show will be over by Midnight, plenty of time to get home before you turn into a pumpkin...be there, its going to be an explosive night with some special guests. Tickets - only $5.00 in advance, $7.00 @ the door. 18+ event, photo ID required.
August 15/07 - Wow, its been a long hard road to this point...the good news is Schmidt's arm doesn't appear to be as bad as initially diagnosed (although we've heard that one before!). The band has been rehearsing since early August and right from the first rehearsal it was quite apparent that the engine is firing on all cylinders. ELC is gearing up to do what they do best - bring the party and blow the roof off the joint. Meanwhile, during the forced hiatus, Millar has been furiously writing and developing new material for the next album, with 8 new songs either completed or nearing completion. When you add those songs to the other existing 52 unrecorded songs in the ELC inventory, the band has some serious decision-making to do before beginning recording of the new album, which is set to begin in November.
March 21/07 - Tune in to 101.5 UMFM on Monday, April 9 at 6pm CST. The one and only Howard Mandshein will be interviewing Trevor Knox Millar on his Free Range Radio show. "H" is easily one of the most knowledgeable radio announcers in the country and besides that he happens to be one of the rare good guys in a sea of treacherous swine and greed heads. ELC would also like to extend our sincere congratulations to Howard with respect to the Lifetime Achievement Award that was bestowed upon him at this year's Western Canadian Music Awards. The award essentially confirms what Winnipeg rock radio listeners have known for close to three decades - H is the best. Kudos, H.
March 15/07 - Tune in to Power 97 (www.power97.com) tonight at 11:30pm CST. The Big Rock Station will be featuring the band on The River City Rawks Show. They'll spin three tracks from Let it Roll along with a fairly tongue-in-cheek interview with Trevor Knox Millar. Our sincere thanks go out to Casey & Jay at 97 for their support.
February 15/07 - Well for those of you wondering what's happening so far as the spring tour that was set to begin in March, join the club. At the end of December 2006 Ryan re-tore ligaments that were "successfully" re-attached by doctors during a surgery that included slicing him open from elbow to wrist to find a problem that was worsened when a certain government agency (love thy country, fear thy government) that can't be held responsible for their actions misdiagnosed a tear as a "strain". The most recent news has us waiting to see if Ryan will ever be able to play drums professionally again. We remain hopeful that "Messerschmidt" will make a full recovery so we can get back to the business of making great rock music together. Get better soon, brother. In the meantime, we are sifting through 50 or so songs, trying to narrow down which ones will appear on the follow up to "Let it Roll", while at the same time searching for a suitable candidate to take over the drumming chores for the time being, a daunting task in this frozen wasteland we live in, to say the least - got the balls for the job? Get ahold of us.
November 3/06 - The band will be doing a live to air broadcast on 101.5 UMFM's "From The Floor" on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 8pm CST. If you missed the release show on October 13 at the Pyramid Cabaret (www.pyramid7.com) here's your chance to hear the band blasting out most of "Let It Roll" followed by an in studio interview in the comfort of your home or car. Sit back, light one up and get bent with EQUAL LOUDNESS CURVE!
10/14/06 - WOW! THE ALBUM RELEASE SHOW HELD AT THE PYRAMID CABARET (WWW.PYRAMID7.COM) LAST NIGHT WAS A HUGE SUCCESS THAT FAR EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS! CHEERS TO "THUNDER" & "WIDEOPEN" FOR SHARING THE STAGE WITH US ALONG WITH A NOD TO COMEDIAN BOB SMITH FOR BREAKING THE ICE AT THE START OF THE SHOW. WE WERE TRULY BLOWN AWAY BY THE STRONG SHOW OF SUPPORT FROM THE 250+ SOULS WHO BRAVED 75KM/HR WINDS TO HELP US CELEBRATE THE OFFICIAL RELEASE OF THE ALBUM! WE KNOW YOU HEARD US - WE HEARD YOU TOO! OUR MOST SINCERE THANKS GO OUT TO ALL WHO ATTENDED, WE CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH! BIG THANKS TO DAVE & STAFF AT THE PYRAMID FOR ALL OF THEIR HELP. IT APPEARS THAT ROCK AND ROLL IS ALIVE AND WELL IN WINNIPEG, WHAT A GREAT NIGHT! THANKS EVERBODY, SEE YOU DOWN THE ROAD...TREVOR
AUGUST 15/06 - THE LONG-AWAITED DEBUT ALBUM "LET IT ROLL" IS FINALLY HERE, DESPITE BROKEN LEGS, TORN TENDONS, TWO MAJOR RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERIES AND COUNTLESS OTHER DELAYS!
THE BAND IS EAGER TO GET ONSTAGE AND FURIOUSLY WAVE THE ROCK AND ROLL BANNER. A SHORT FALL TOUR WILL BE TAKING PLACE IN SELECT CITIES.
